'Mass grave' found in Sri Lanka

What appears to be a mass grave has been discovered in eastern Sri Lanka.

Reports from Batticaloa district say that a group digging a well came across the remains of about 20 people, with spent cartridges scattered among them.

There were also lengths of cloth that may have been used to tie up the victims before their death.

Sri Lankan police have collected the evidence and sent it for forensic tests. It is not clear who the dead are or who might have killed them.
