India blast suspect sketch issued

Sketch of Hyderabad blast suspect Police in India have issued a sketch of a man whom they want to question in connection with one of Saturday's twin blasts in the city of Hyderabad.

At least 42 people were killed and more than 60 wounded in explosions at an open-air auditorium and a restaurant.

Police official Ponna Rao said the wanted man sat next to a person who was injured in the blast at the auditorium.

State authorities say groups in Pakistan and Bangladesh are responsible for the blasts.

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh have denied the accusation.

Mr Rao said the photofit picture of the suspect had been prepared on the basis of a detailed description provided by a man who had sat next to the suspect during a laser show at the auditorium where one of the blasts took place.

The witness was injured in the blast and is recovering in a local hospital, he said.

Mr Rao said that "nobody has come forward" to provide any description of suspects in connection with the restaurant blast minutes later.

Hundreds of people were watching a laser show at the Lumbini amusement park when the first bomb went off there.

The second attack took place at the Gokul Chat shop - an outdoor restaurant serving snacks and savouries.

The explosions came three months after 11 people were killed in a bombing at the city's 17th Century Mecca Mosque.

Police have yet to formally name suspects in connection with that attack - or for a number of other blasts on Indian soil in which more than 300 people have been killed since late 2005.
