'Six killed' in Afghan explosion

At least six people have died in an explosion in the south-eastern Afghan province of Paktika, officials say.

A district chief and four policemen were among those killed in the blast , provincial officials told the BBC.

The authorities say the explosion took place in the Yahya Khel district close to the border with Pakistan.

It is not clear what caused the blast, There has been an upsurge in roadside and suicide bombings in Afghanistan in recent weeks, blamed on the Taleban.
