Maoists endanger Nepal peace - US

The US ambassador to Nepal has accused the former Maoist rebels of continuing to use violence and warned that the country's peace process is in danger.

James Moriarty, who ends his three-year term in Nepal this week, urged other members of the transitional government not to be intimidated by the Maoists.

The US still regards the rebels as a terrorist organisation, a year after Nepal's civil war ended.

The Maoists joined the government in April ahead of planned elections.
