Two soldiers killed in Waziristan

Two soldiers have been shot dead in an attack by militants in Pakistan's South Waziristan region, officials say.

The attack took place late on Thursday in the village of Ganji Tikri, close to the border with Afghanistan.

Tens of thousands of troops have been deployed in South and North Waziristan to fight Islamic militants.

In September tribesmen in North Waziristan agreed to expel foreign militants and end cross-border attacks in return for a reduced army presence.
