A conference has opened in Nepal which aims to promote goodwill between Hindus and Buddhists.
One-thousand delegates from eighteen Asian countries have come to the three-day conference, which is taking place at Siddhartanagar, the traditional birthplace of the Buddha, southwest of the capital, Kathmandu.
Correspondents say the organisers are particularly concerned to discuss complaints by Hindu organisations in India and Nepal that Christian evangelists are targetting for conversion large numbers of poor and underprivileged people.
Christian groups deny such charges.
