Gandhi files nomination for polls
India's ruling Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi has filed her nomination papers to represent the parliamentary seat of Rae Bareily.
Mrs Gandhi is seeking re-election after quitting parliament last month in a row over politicians' public pay and perks.
Correspondents say she is almost certainly assured victory.
Mrs Gandhi held the seat, which had been held by her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi, by nearly a quarter of a million votes at the 2004 election.
