Nepal wedding bus crash kills 37

A bus carrying the members of a wedding party has fallen more than 100m off a mountainous road in Nepal, killing at least 37 people and injuring 15.

The bridegroom, his father and brother were among the dead, police said, while the bride was among those injured.

The accident happened in remote south-western Nepal's Pyuthan district.

Scores of people die every year when vehicles - often old and overloaded - crash on the poorly-maintained roads of mountainous Nepal.

A local police official told the AFP news agency that rescue teams were still retrieving bodies from a stream at the bottom of the ravine into which the bus fell.

He said the bus was overcrowded, with several passengers travelling on its roof.
