Sixteen die in Nepal bus plunge

At least 16 people have been killed and another 30 wounded, including four foreign tourists, in a bus crash in central Nepal, police said.

The bus plunged into a river near Kusma, the administrative centre of Parbat district, 250km (160 miles) west of the capital, Kathmandu.

The bus, with at least 50 people on board, had been travelling from the town of Beni to Kathmandu.

Police said the cause of the accident had still to be determined.

The BBC's Sushil Sharma in Kathmandu says the injured are being treated at hospitals in Kusma and the nearby town of Pokhara.
