Officials in the Indian state of West Bengal say the Darjeeling district, close to the border with Nepal, remains tense following the raising of a Nepalese flag at Sukhiapukhuri, earlier this week.
The district magistrate of Darjeeling Navin Prakash told the BBC that supporters of the former ruling Communist Party in Nepal had planted the flag.
Trouble broke out between the Communist Party activists and a Nepalese group in India, the Gorkha Janashakti.
