The webcam keeps surfers up to date with Frank's progress
Frank the cat was run over at the end of January near his home in Cambridge, UK, and has been recovering from a broken pelvis ever since.
People from all over the world can follow his recovery via two webcams, as well as find out facts about Frank or look at x-rays of his injuries.
Enterprising owner David Donnan, who is managing director of internet firm Igentics, came up with the idea of the website to test some of the software the firm was working on.
Furry hit
The site has become a huge hit with surfers, as visitors log on to check Frank's progress, send him get well cards and e-mail pictures of their own pets.
It is now receiving around 12,000 visits a day.
Mr Donnan was surprised at the site's popularity.
He believes the fur factor could be the killer application broadband has been waiting for.
"I had broadband, so I was able to set the site up easily," he told BBC News Online.
"People like cats and are working away all day in stressful environments and with the click of a mouse can see a nice furry animal."
Roving webcam
Frank will be recuperating for the next four weeks at least and Mr Donnan plans to add forums to his cathospital.co.uk website.
"When he recovers we could continue with a radiocam but that could be a bit of a nightmare if he gets run over again," he said.
Mr Donnan is also considering extending the furry webcam to the local vet practice, with cameras on all the recovering animals.
Petcams are already up and running in the US to allow busy owners to keep an eye on their favourite furry friends while at work.
As for Frank, he is enjoying his newfound celebrity thinks Mr Donnan.
"I'm convinced he notices the attention and plays up for the cameras," he said.
