BBC News School Report came to Zambia for the first time when 18 pupils and nine teachers from three Zambian Schools made the news in Lusaka.
Supported by the Commonwealth of Learning and working with staff from the BBC and the Directorate of Distance Education, the students were taking part in three days of training in journalism.
Mr Victor Muyatwa, the Director of Open and Distance Education, watched as the pupils made their first news broadcasts. Stories included how being a vegetarian might help the environment, what can be done to help coral reefs, Zambian sport and weather.

The students from Kanyonyo Basic School, Western Province, Kabulonga Basic School, Lusaka, and Mepezemi Park Basic School, Eastern Province, read their stories out to the group.
Afterwards they said they had found it interesting finding out about the stories and nerve-wracking reading them out, but that it had been fun.
Ros Smith, Producer, BBC News School Report, said: "I was really impressed with their scripting and they had fun with it when they handed over to the next presenter. I hope they carry on working with the news when they go back to their schools."
