There follows a description of the way in which we choose a winner for the Daily Politics mug.
Please read the BBC Code of Conduct for competitions [see links below]. Any competitions for a Daily Politics mug comply with this Code.
- Guess The Year and other Daily Politics competitions for which a mug is the prize are open to all residents of the UK, including those of the Channel Islands, except BBC employees and anyone connected with Guess The Year and other Daily Politics competitions.
- The competition for the mug is open from the announcement of the question until 1230 (on special shows, this time may differ and will be specified above). Emails can be sent using email software or the BBC's web form at the bottom of this page. Any emails that have not, for whatever reason, arrived by that time will not be included. Entries cannot be returned.
All entrants must supply their names and addresses and daytime telephone number. The BBC will only ever use personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without permission. - At 1230 on the day of the competition, all correct answers will be collected by studio producers; each will be printed or written onto a separate slip; the slips will be placed into a sample Daily Politics mug or a bucket, from which the winner will be drawn at random by our studio guest (typically a current or former Member of the UK Parliament).
- The prize consists of a ceramic mug. The mug may not be that seen on screen.
- The prize is as stated. There is no cash alternative for the prize and the prize is not transferable.
- The BBC's decision as to the winner is final. No correspondence relating to Guess The Year or to other Daily Politics competitions will be entered into.
- The winner will be notified by having their name read out on The Daily Politics by the end of the programme or on the next day's programme, and again within typically two weeks of the close of the competition by having the prize delivered to their address as stated in the entry. The programme team is not responsible for the prize reaching its destination once correctly posted from our studio.
- Only one entry is allowed per entrant regardless of method of entry.
- Entrants must agree to take part in any post-competition publicity.
- The BBC reserves the right to cancel or alter or amend the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
- If the winner is unable to be contacted, the BBC reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner-up, or to re-offer the prize in any future BBC competition, typically the next edition of Guess The Year.
- Prize winners agree to allow the use of their names and photographs for publicity purposes as requested by the editor or one of the producers of The Daily Politics, and for their entries to be published in any relevant format by the BBC.
-The BBC, its sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded or any problems with the post which results in the prize not being delivered.
