Iyad Allawi

Iraq - Will President Bush's strategy work?

Sarah Montague talks to Iyad Allawi, the former Prime Minister of Iraq, on Monday 23rd January

What will stop the violence in Iraq?

The latest idea from President Bush is to send an extra 20,000 American troops.

He says that will give Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki one last chance to get the politics right and prove that his is a government for all of Iraq - not just the Shias.

But can Mr Al Maliki deliver?

Iyad Allawi is the former Prime Minister of the interim government.

Sarah Montague talks to him about the sectarianism which has taken hold in Baghdad and what hope he has that Iraqi politicians have the will and the ability to overcome it.
