Alan Johnston's story

BBC correspondent Alan Johnston On 12 March 2007, as he neared the end of his posting in Gaza, BBC correspondent Alan Johnston was kidnapped at gunpoint.

For 114 days he was held by a group called the Army of Islam, before being handed over to Palestinian militant movement Hamas.

In a special From Our Own Correspondent programme, Alan Johnston described his ordeal and the concern he felt about the effect his abduction was having on his elderly parents and sister at home in Scotland.

He also be explained about how the politics of Gaza eventually shifted against his kidnappers and of the terrifying moments surrounding his release.
