As part of the BBC World Service's Ruling China season, China's Long Arm comprises two series of two programmes each.
Programmes 1 and 2 look at China's military expansion.
Programmes 3 and 4 charts how China is becoming a key player in the world through its hunt for natural resources.
Programme 3: Angolan oil for China
China's economy is growing fast, and it has an ever-increasing need for natural resources like oil.
Angola, which has rapidly transformed itself from a war-torn country to a big player in the oil business, is now China's largest supplier of oil but not everyone in Angola is happy about this burgeoning trade relationship.
There are more Chinese in Angola than in any other African country - perhaps 200,000.
Lucy Ash travels to Angola to see what is happening on the ground.
She hears from critics who accuse Beijing of easing deals by offering aid packages without appropriate agreements in place, and claim that Chinese money has helped worsen Angola's notorious corruption.
