Kate Russell gives us her latest selection of the best sites on the World Wide Web.

FRIENDFEED (http://friendfeed.com)

FriendFeed

FriendFeed is a tool for sharing interesting content with friends.

A group of specified contacts are able to see someone's customized feed, including their updates on social networking sites and blogs.

When creating an account, remember to un-tick a box if you want to make the feed private. There is the option to subscribe to existing popular users channels.

The last big task is to link all social content sites, such as Flickr, Stumbleupon, Facebook and others.

The user can also create private rooms to discuss specific topics with a few select contacts.

KIVA (www.kiva.org)

Kiva

The creators of this site are looking for people willing to support entrepreneurs in developing countries with small business loans.

Loan amounts start at $25 (£16), and it is worth noting that there is no guarantee the lender will get their money back.

Local field agents provide a rating beside each loan request, which gives a fair indication of whether it is likely to be repaid.

Lenders get updates as borrowers make repayments, and there are occasional field reports on how the project is going.

SOURCEFORGE (http://sourceforge.net)

http://sourceforge.net

Sourceforge

This is one online destination where many generous coders behind free software hang out.

Sourceforge.net is a source code repository - it acts as a centralized location for developers to control and manage open source software development.

For the rest of us, this is actually a really cool place to find new stuff to download.

The project of the month panel on the home page is a good place to start if you just want to see what is a-buzz in the source coding world.
