How can I watch media on the website?

The BBC Parliament online media player works in the same way as News Online's media player, broadcasting in Real and Windows format and at narrowband (56K) and broadband (256K and above) rates.

The player is accessible from the Live Video link on the homepage and in all other stories. To play the media simply click on the relevant link.

If you would like to use Real Player download it from RealNetworks.

What sort of operating system do I need to use the audio-video applications?

Parliament's media is supported on Windows and Mac OS. It is not yet supported on Unix platforms but we hope to support other formats in the future.

What sort of web browser do I need to use the audio-video applications?

You can view Parliament's media with Internet Explorer versions 4 and above or Firefox.

That still doesn't answer my question...

We do not endorse or provide support for any software application, but if you need further technical help about the site see the other Frequently Asked Question sections below, with e-mail links to technical support teams.

Television

Why am I losing my BBC Parliament picture via my DTT adapter?

Some viewers using digital adapters may experience loss of picture on BBC Parliament. If this happens, we recommend that viewers switch their adapter off and then on again, which should rectify the fault.

This is a short term measure until we can establish the cause of the problem.

Why do I have a picture but no sound?

BBC Parliament has recently changed channel number, so that Channel 85 may now carry video only. Please re-scan your set-top-box and a video and audio service should be programmed to channel 81.

Why don't I receive a picture via my iDTV?

Some iDTVs may experience a loss of picture on BBC Parliament. This is related to a software problem and manufacturers are currently addressing the situation

Radio

The BBC Radio 4 website has a page dedicated to answering Radio 4 related queries.

Digital and internet radio

To find Yesterday in Parliament on the Evoke-1 - and similar - digital products, the channel is labelled 'Parliament' and is located next to Radio 4.

Some older hi-fi type tuners don't display the name for these secondary channels, they only put a light on for 'secondary', or display a message. With those tuners, the 'primary/secondary' button - or similar - has to be pressed (sometimes this is only on the remote, sometimes it's behind a small panel on the front).

And if you need more information on listening to the radio over the internet there are dedicated pages on the BBC website.
