Israeli 'stabbed family to death'

An Israeli waiter has confessed to killing six members of his former boss' family near Tel Aviv because he had a grudge over his dismissal, police say.

Police say Damian Kerlik, 38, admitted stabbing Dmitry Oshrenko's family, including his three-year-old daughter and a four-month-old son on 17 October.

"I wanted to take revenge," Mr Kerlik told investigators, according to Israel's Haaretz newspaper.

Mr Kerlik was fired from the Oshrenko's family restaurant in 2007.

"I wanted to hurt him and everything that is dear to him," Mr Kerlik told the investigators.

"When I murdered the children, it was him that I saw in front of me," he added.

The victims included Mr Oshrenko, his wife Tatyana, their two children and Dmitry's parents.

Mr Kerlik, who was arrested 10 days ago, is believed to have entered the Oshrenko's family home in Rishon Lezion at night before going on the killing spree.

Police believe that he was fired in 2007 because Mr Oshrenko suspected him of stealing alcohol.

The case has caused shockwaves in Israel, dominating media headlines.

Mr Kerlik is being kept in custody pending formal charges.

His wife has also been arrested on suspicion of obstructing the investigation and helping him after the murders.
