Foreign ministers from the UN Security Council's five permanent members, plus Germany, will meet next Tuesday in Berlin to discuss Iran, diplomats say.
They are expected to explore whether to impose a third round of sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear programme.
The talks would bring together Britain, China, France, the United States and Russia, as well as the host country.
China and Russia have questioned the need for more sanctions on Iran, which says its nuclear programme is peaceful.
A US intelligence report last month said Tehran had stopped an alleged secret nuclear weapons programme in 2003.
Iran says its uranium enrichment is to generate electricity and denies claims by the administration of US President George W Bush and key allies that it is building a nuclear bomb.
