Israeli strikes target Gaza Strip

Map of Gaza and Egypt showing Rafah An Israeli air strike has killed a Palestinian militant and wounded at least three other people, medical officials in the Gaza Strip say.

It happened in the southern town of Rafah on the border with Egypt.

The Israeli army said the raid had targeted a vehicle used by militants it believed were planning attacks against Israel.

A separate Israeli air strike hit the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza. No injuries were reported.

Palestinian militants had earlier fired a homemade rocket across the border into Israel, striking a house in the town of Sderot.

No one was in the property at the time, but an elderly woman and young boy in the area were slightly wounded by shrapnel.
