New demand over PLO terror list

An Arab member of the Israeli Parliament has demanded that Israel take the PLO off its list of terrorist organisation, now that it has signed peace agreements with it.

The member, Ahmed Tibi, described the present situation as the height of absurdity, and a grave breach of the mutual recognition between the PLO and the state of Israel.

He has sent letters of protest to the Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, and the Attorney General, Elyakim Rubinstein, and has introduced a bill in Parliament asking for the change.
