Saudi forces kill bomb suspects

The interior ministry says one militant was shot dead on Tuesday and nine others died on Wednesday.

Wednesday's violence included apparent attempts by militants to bomb government buildings in the capital.

Saudi security forces have been waging a campaign against Islamist militants since May 2003.

Violence erupted again this week:

• On Tuesday, one suspect was killed and another captured during a shootout with police in Riyadh

• Another suspect was killed early on Wednesday as the authorities investigated Tuesday's clash

• Later on Wednesday, one suspected militant died when a car bomb targeting the interior ministry exploded and a second blast wounded four when another suspected suicide bomber tried to ram a car into a special forces centre

• On the same day, security forces investigating the attacks were led to a house, where they killed another seven suspects, including Yemeni national Ibrahim Ahmad Abdel Majid al-Rimy, considered to have links with Osama bin Laden.

The attacks come two weeks after an audio tape said to have been recorded by al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, himself a Saudi, called on supporters to rise up against Saudi leaders.
