Israeli missile strike kills one

Israeli helicopters have fired missiles at Palestinian Authority buildings in Gaza City, according to Palestinian witnesses.

They say at least three missiles hit the building - a small structure used by security guards at the Local Affairs Ministry complex - killing one person and wounding several others. Dozens of people fled in panic.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

The dead man was Mustafa Sabah, 35, who worked as a security guard. Palestinian sources told the Reuters news agency that he was associated with a militant group that blew up an Israeli tank in February, killing three.

Israel has carried out frequent helicopter raids in Gaza, often targeting Palestinian Government buildings, as well as workshops allegedly used by militants to manufacture bombs and weapons.

Earlier on Wednesday Israeli soldiers shot dead two Palestinians in a gun battle in the West Bank city of Hebron.
