History of Ushers brewery

Ushers Brewery was founded in 1824 by Thomas Usher in the Wiltshire town of Trowbridge.

Ushers was best known for regional ales such as Best Bitter, Founders Ale and Mann's Brown Ale. The Ushers brands is now brewed under contract in Dorchester.

The North Koreans bought the brewery in a £1.5m deal after seeing an advertisement for its sale.

These two engineers got into trouble for posing for a picture while the brewery was being dismantled and the process continued behind closed doors.

The world's most secret state dismantled then re-used equipment from the Ushers plant in Wiltshire to build a giant new brewery on the outskirts of its capital Pyongyang.

The relocated brewery was up and running in just 18 months. North Korea's new brew is called Taedong River Beer.

The brewery site is now being developed into flats.
