The Yemeni government says 180 people have died or are missing and 10,000 are homeless after last week's floods. The UN says the figures can't be verified as some areas are still inaccessible.

The UN's Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs says about 2,000 houses have been destroyed or damaged. The eastern province of Hadhramaut was worst hit.

The UN's refugee agency, the UNHCR, has sent trucks to affected areas with items such as mattresses, blankets, jerry cans and mosquito nets for 3,500 people.

In addition, the World Health Organisation is sending medicine and other supplies to treat more than 50,000 people for conditions such as diarrhoea and malaria.

Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh says he has allocated $100m (£62m) in aid to flood-hit areas.

Neighbouring Saudi Arabia has pledged another $100m in aid - plus food and medicine - the official Saba news agency reported. The United Arab Emirates and Oman have also sent material aid.
