Tsar Nicholas II was shot with his family by a Bolshevik firing squad in the basement of a building of Yekaterinburg, a year after the 1917 Russian revolution.

Thousands of pilgrims walked from Yekaterinburg to Ganina-Yama, some 20km to the north, where the remains of the tsar and his family were buried.
