1 of 9
Voting has begun in Zimbabwe's presidential run-off, in which President Robert Mugabe is the only candidate. The opposition has pulled out because of violence against its supporters.

Early voting was reportedly slow. These members of Zimbabwe's Apostolic Church prayed outside a polling station in the capital, Harare.

Although Morgan Tsvangirai has officially withdrawn from the contest, his name still appears on the ballot paper.

4 of 9
There are rumours that the serial numbers of ballot papers will be checked to see who does vote for Mr Tsvangirai.

5 of 9
Reports suggest any queues to vote are in pro-Mugabe strongholds, or near "war veteran" bases.

6 of 9
Meanwhile, areas where support for Mr Tsvangirai's MDC is traditionally higher are very quiet.

7 of 9
Some people fear that ruling party militants will check if they have voted, by seeing if they have indelible ink-stains on their finger. Those who have not voted could be beaten.

8 of 9
The opposition has been blocked from campaigning but President Mugabe has held rallies across the country. He has ignored calls from world leaders to call off the poll.

Meanwhile, violence and intimidation has continued. This opposition party worker said a group of ruling party militants had attacked him with a hatchet.
