Elisabeth Fritzl, her mother and five of her children have released a message thanking people for their support. They write that they hope "a time will come for us when we can lead a normal life again".

There are also individual messages. Elisabeth writes that she wishes for the recovery of her daughter, Kerstin, the love of her children, protection for her family and people with heart and understanding.

The third and youngest child who was imprisoned in the cellar dreams of sledging, driving in a car, playing ball and swimming, playing with other children and running in fields.

One of the girls brought up by Josef Fritzl as an adopted "grandchild" hopes that her sister Kerstin recovers, that everything will soon be over, and writes that she misses music school and her friends.

Rosemarie Fritzl, who signs herself Grandma, wishes that with God's help she will be able to live in peace with her children, and writes that she misses her dear friends and her freedom.

The family are recovering from their ordeal in a psychiatric clinic. Elisabeth's eldest daughter Kerstin is still seriously ill in hospital. Her collapse in the cellar led to the alleged crime being exposed.
