Land Rover is celebrating 60 years of producing its famous 4x4 vehicles. This is the first Land Rover to come off the production line - in 1948 - and is known as "Huey".

Many Land Rovers have been modified for a range of other purposes. This Defender 6x6 model has been converted into a fire tender.

The first Land Rover design sketch was made in the sand at Red Wharf Bay in Anglesey by Maurice Wilks. He wanted a versatile vehicle that could double as a light tractor and off-roader.

This is a Series IIa 109-inch Land Rover Ambulance. The motor manufacturer has also been supplying vehicles to the Red Cross since 1954. The first was a mobile dispensary in Dubai.
