In pictures: Banksy's tunnel gallery

Graffiti artist Banksy has turned a south London tunnel into a half-mile long exhibition space, but the elusive artist kept its location secret until the last minute.

The artist added his trademark stencil-style murals to the walls of the tunnel in Waterloo's Leake Street, including an image of a knife-wielding hoodie.

Madonna and Britney's Spears' kiss at the 2003 MTV Awards is also depicted, plus a car crashing into a tree. Banksy teamed up with 29 other street artists for the exhibition.

During the official three-day exhibition Banksy will allow other artists to add their own stencil work to the tunnel walls alongside his art.

The Queen, Boris Johnson and Tower Bridge are among the subjects of the official exhibition, which opens to the public on 3 May.

Banksy has seen his popularity greatly increase over the past few years, with art collectors bidding up to £208,000 for his work, and the walls they are displayed on.
