The BBC News website's technology team has spent a day in Norwich testing out the city's new free-to-use wireless internet network.

Leaving the confines of the office, the team set up camp for the day at the Forum, a sparkling community building right next to St Peter Mancroft church in the heart of Norwich.

The BBC was in Norwich to use Wi-fi to write and produce output for the website without sitting at a desk in an office.

A BBC TV news crew was also on hand, reporting on the new network and the website's use of internet telephony and our wireless experiment.

Breakfast TV and News 24 showcased the benefits of the new system and asked early adopters how free wi-fi was changing their usual routines.

In Norwich's internet cafes, however, we found gamers and casual internet users insistent that the new free network would not change their usual habits.

The day ended with a landmark interactive session as we fielded questions live from users around the world by instant messenger, Voip telephony and old-fashioned e-mail.
