In pictures: Pixar exhibition

More than 500 works created by Pixar artists, including this Finding Nemo oil painting, have gone on display at the Museum of Modern Art, in New York.

The exhibition, Pixar: 20 Years of Animation, features 10 digital media installations and a number of lectures, talks and workshops by Pixar artists.

Concept drawings, sketches, paintings and sculptures used to devise the computer-generated image (CGI) animation are at the heart of the exhibition.

Each of Pixar's six feature-length films-Toy Story (1995), A Bug's Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters Inc (2001), Finding Nemo (2003) and The Incredibles (2004) will be screened during the exhibition.

Art work from Pixar's 1986 debut short film Luxo Jr will also be on display.

Mixed-media pieces for Monsters Inc demonstrate the process of creating the environments that are later inhabited by animated characters.

The exhibition runs from 14 December 2005 until 6 February 2006.
