Among other British actors attending the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was Joely Richardson, who stars in TV series Nip/Tuck.

Poseidon Adventure director and Bafta founder Ronald Neame was also honoured with a special award. He said US companies were better at backing UK films than the British government.
