In pictures: Tsunami couple's last moments

The Canadian couple were on a beach in Khao Lak when they caught tourists on camera, oblivious to the approaching tsunami.

"I don't know why they didn't run," their son Christian told Canadian TV. "Either they knew they couldn't or they didn't know the power of the wave."

Mr and Mrs Knill were both swept away by the waves. Their bodies were later discovered. So was their camera, with the memory card intact.

The couple's family in Vancouver had been dreading the news. Mr Knill's sister Terri and brother-in-law Roy Maguire had appealed for information about their loved ones.
