Little has changed since 1922. The shell has undergone a number of incarnations including two designed by Lloyd Wright, the oldest son of noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright. One of Mr Wright's designs provided the inspiration for the current design.
The most recent change came in 1980 with the addition of fibreglass spheres designed by Frank Gehry, designed to improve the acoustics.
The Bowl has played host to a range of musicians including Pavarotti, Stravinsky, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra.
