Maps: Riots in France
Riots began in the Parisian suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois on 27 October 2005, following the deaths of two teenagers attempting to hide from police.
Unrest quickly spread to other parts of the city, mainly poor, run-down suburbs with large African and Arab migrant communities. Within days, the violence had spread to other towns and cities across France. Below are maps showing the worst-affected areas.
