Manufacturers are recalling a number of batches of their asthma inhalers after faulty valves were found to be causing them to give higher than needed doses.
Patients, pharmacies and wholesalers were asked to check their Salbulin Inhalers CFC-Free to see whether they are part of the affected batches.
Manufacturers 3M Health Care Limited said the batch number is printed on both the box and the label on the metal can.
If patients find they have an inhaler from the affected batch they are advised to return it either to their pharmacies or dispensing doctor.

The affected batches are:
GDB084A February 2004 (200 doses)
GDC010A March 20004 (200 doses)
GDC010C March 2004 (200 doses)

"Product recall advertisements are being placed in national and regional media to alert patients to this recall, but patients should not stop taking any of their asthma treatments".
The Medicines Control Agency has instigated a Class I Medicines Recall on the product after being consulted by 3M Health Care Limited.
