Firm predicting bleak new year

A Channel Islands electrical chain which has just made three staff redundant is predicting poor sales in the New Year.

Nsew has made two compulsory redundancies in Guernsey and one in Jersey.

Vic Groves, the managing director, said he was confident people would shop before Christmas, but the economic downturn would be felt in January.

The chain sells audiovisual equipment and has stores in both islands.
