Island lollipop lady is honoured

A lollipop lady and fund-raiser for charities in Jersey has been recognised in the Queen's New Year Honours.

Muriel Poisson, of St John, has been appointed MBE for charitable services in Jersey.

In her 27 years of fund-raising she has supported a Battle of Flowers float, the proceeds of which are donated to local charities.

Mrs Poisson also does shopping for the elderly and infirm and has been a parish lollipop lady for 25 years.
