Group announces pub sell-off move

Private equity group Sandpiper CI bought the business from hospitality and leisure group Channel Island Traders in August for £260m.

The business includes 42 pubs in Jersey, 21 in Guernsey and another two in Alderney.

A total of 537 staff work within the business and are being kept informed of the sale.

Chief Executive Officer Tony O' Neill said they had decided to sell that arm of the business after consulting with management and industry sector experts.

Sandpiper CI now runs the Jersey Brewery, drinks distribution businesses Victor Hugo and Bucktrout and Company and the Wine Warehouse.

Sandpiper's deal included Checkers and Safeway shops, hotels, pubs and restaurants, some manufacturing and a distribution chain in both Jersey and Guernsey.
