Man injured as van stove explodes

A man has been treated in Jersey's General Hospital after an explosion in a van.

He was trying to light a gas stove in his van when it exploded, burning him on his face, hands and feet.

The island's fire service praised people at a nearby garage who heard the explosion on Thursday morning and put out the fire with extinguishers.

Station Manager Mark Le Cornu said their quick response prevented the fire spreading further.
