Island to hold own Veterans' Day
Jersey has chosen a new date to remember the island's war veterans.
Jersey's Veterans' Day will be held on the nearest Sunday to 15 August each year, instead of the UK government's chosen day.
Organisers hope the decision will reassure Far East veterans their efforts have not been overshadowed by the Liberation and D-Day celebrations.
A parade will be held to mark the day on 13 August this year, followed by a service in St Helier.
The younger members will march in the parade while more senior veterans will travel in World War II military vehicles.
