Masts 'pose small risk to health'
New mobile phone masts in Jersey pose little risk to public health provided they are in line with international standards, a health report says.
The report by the Health Protection Department follows concern over the plans of Cable and Wireless (C&W) to build a new network.
The company is being urged to do more to consult local residents.
It also wants C&W and Jersey Telecom to set up a full public database listing all mobile masts and power ratings.
The Health Protection Department said there was no definite proof that radiation adversely affected human health.
But it said planners must take international guidelines into consideration when deciding on the siting and the power of masts.
