Bee Gees honoured as Manx freemen

The surviving members of the Bee Gees have been made freemen of their home borough of Douglas in the Isle of Man.

Barry and Robin Gibb attended the ceremony at Douglas Town Hall.

Their brother Maurice, who died in 2003, was recognised with the freeman honour posthumously. It recognises the group's achievements in music.

The brothers were born on the island before moving to Manchester and later Australia. Crowds lined the streets to see the Bee Gees ahead of the ceremony.

The Bee Gees have sold millions of records around the world.

Their hits include Night Fever, Tragedy and You Win Again.

Barry and Robin Gibb no longer perform as the Bee Gees since the death of Maurice.

The 53-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest before surgery for an intestinal blockage in Miami, Florida.
