Visitors to the Isle of Man prison are facing random vehicle checks in a bid to stop drugs being smuggled inside.
The operation also aims to stop inmates getting hold of contraband such as tobacco and mobile phones.
Vehicles will be stopped by police on the way towards the Jurby Prison and searched by sniffer dogs.
Visitors will still be subject to security checks inside the jail. Prison authorities say they want to promote a better understanding of drug issues.
'Not tolerated'
However, anyone caught with controlled substances faces being arrested or charged.
Prison security manager, Colin Ring, said he wanted to protect the welfare of inmates, visitors and staff.
"The supply of drugs and other contraband can lead to problems with addiction and intimidation so the Isle of Man prison service and constabulary are joining forces to ensure a safe environment for all," said Mr Ring.
"Visitors can sometimes be bullied into carrying drugs, tobacco or mobile phones, but we want to send out the message that such behaviour will not be tolerated."
