People are being warned about an e-mail scam circulating the Isle of Man where people are being duped into sending out personal and financial details.
According to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), e-mails have been sent claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs.
They request credit or debit card and personal details to be emailed within 48 hours to claim an alleged refund.
The OFT says the emails are not from HM Revenue and Customs and that they should be deleted.
Anybody who has responded to such an email should get in touch with their bank and if money has been lost they should also contact the police.
HM Revenue and Customs is offering advice about the scam on its website and is urging anyone who has received such an email to get in touch with them.
