Ramsey Cottage Hospital on the Isle of Man is to be given a facelift in its centenary year.
The hospital's welfare trustees hope to fund improvements to the main entrance to create a larger access area to help improve wheelchair access.
They said the new layout to the front section of the building would provide a more stable temperature in the waiting areas and improve visibility for staff.
A planning application has now been submitted for the changes.
The hospital provides services from a minor injuries unit, a general ward, on-site facilities for adults with mental heath problems and learning disabilities and a ward for the elderly mentally ill.
Secretary and Treasurer of the trustees, Derek Crellin, said: "We realise the hospital is unable to fund this at the present time and we are in the happy position of being able to help."
