The Isle of Man's Mountain Road will become one-way for this year's TT festival, the government has decided.
The route will be one-way from Ramsey Hairpin to Creg-ny-Baa, from north to south, to improve safety during the races' centenary year.
The suggestion was made by the emergency services, but public opinion was mixed. The government says it's priority is public safety.
The Isle of Man TT Festival runs from 26 May to 8 June.
The volume of visitors to the TT is expected to be double that of previous years.
It is estimated about 50,000 people will visit the island over the course of the festival.
Collision reduction
Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle said 83 responses to the consultation were "pretty evenly split for and against the proposal".
It is hoped that the number of collisions will be reduced on the road.
The one-way system will run from Saturday 26 May and go back to two-way on Monday 11 June.
The road will be policed 24 hours a day, the government says. Hazard points will be coned off and signed.
All cones and signs will be removed before race sessions and the Mountain Road will be closed early on session days.
