Cooish Gaelic festival kicks off
The annual celebration of Manx language, culture and heritage has kicked off in the Isle of Man.
The festival lasts until 1 December and is called Cooish - which is the Manx Gaelic word for chat or conversation.
It is organised by the Manx Language Society which was founded in 1899 to preserve and promote the language.
Over the next few weeks the society will host lectures, concerts and school workshops. The society said it wants as many people as possible to be involved.
The festival is run in collaboration with the Manx Heritage Foundation, the Isle of Man Arts Council and local businesses.
